New to Sound Baths?

Welcome! We are so glad you are hear to learn more about what a sound bath with Pacific Bloom Yoga entails.

First of all know that each sound bath experience is unique. A sound bath from another practitioner may use different instruments, have different styles, or elements than what we include. Each of our experiences at Pacific Bloom is unique as well. In what and how we play, the intention and the energy that is present.

So what exactly is a sound bath?

In our words it’s a meditative experience where you relax into your body to practice presence and receive the sound vibrations to “bathe” your energy. You might be wondering what the experience is like, but we can’t tell you what your experience will be because each persons experience is different. We did a sound bath and in the same room we had someone seeing images, another seeing colors, someone just saying their mind was “turned off” and someone else feeling different sensations in different parts of their body. All different experiences to the same sound. It is wild to hear the variety of experiences, but all left feeling soothed and relaxed.

Currently our sound baths may include anywhere from 3 to 14 crystal sound bowls, Tibetan metal singing bowls, Koshi chimes and an ocean drum. You can expect some gentle movement before we settle in and start playing the instruments. Most people like to lie down since it will be anywhere from 30-90 minutes of stillness, but some people prefer to sit up or lean against a wall. There is no wrong way to receive a sound bath as long as you are comfortable in your position. We encourage you to move to a different position if you are uncomfortable during the session so you can focus on receiving the sound.

Essentially, all you need to do is show up open to the experience. We recommend bringing water, a mat and anything to help you feel comfortable. When we receive sound baths we like to wear our comfy clothes and bring soft blankets, bolsters and maybe an eye mask if the sound bath is during the day.
